An Introduction to who we are…
Little Genius Learning Centre is a Christian based school situated in the heart of the West Rand. It is easily accessible for parents from Ruimsig, Strubensvalley, Wilgeheuwel and Little Falls. Our school was established in 1998 and has since been under the care and management of Magda van der Merwe, co-owner and manager of the school. Magda is a former Westrand Business Woman of the Year (2006).
Little Genius has repeatedly, enjoyed an excellent reputation – receiving top honors and being voted top students at various institutions of learning including, but not limited to: Charter House, for several years in a row. Little Genius boasts impressive results from various other Private and Provincial Schools as well.
A fact we continually pride ourselves in our little ones who are proof that our passion and highly motivational syllabus, yields top students with above par performances and scholastic standards that are well above average!
Our aim is to give every child the opportunity to develop themselves to the best of their abilities. We create an environment in which every child can feel safe, nurtured and loved.
About Magda Van Der Merwe…
Magda van der Merwe, is the co-owner, teacher and manager of Little Genius Learning Centre, which is situated at 809 Augrabies ave Little Falls.
- Magda was born on the 26 February and lives in Little Falls Roodepoort;
- She is married to Gerhard and has one daughter;
- She matriculated at Burger Hoerskool in 1978.
- She started her studies at Goudstad Onderwys Kollege in 1979;
- She completed her Higher Education Diploma in 1982 (THOD)
Magda started teaching in 1983:
- Kenmare primary school 1983-1986 (Grade 2-3)
- Horison Primary Sschool 1987 (Grade 2)
- Newlands Primary School 1988-1990 (Grade 1)
- Dr Havenga Primary School 1991-1992 (Grade 3-4)
- Helderkruin Primary School 1993-1994 (Grade1)
- Magda started her business career in 1995 as an estate agent until October 1998, she then bought Smiley Kids, a franchise in Strubensvalley. In her first year she was runner up, of the National Junior Franchise of the year award. In 2002, after renting the premises, Magda decided to build her own school at 809 Augrabies Ave ,Little Falls.
- Magda left the Smiley Kids Group in 2003 and changed the name of the school to Little Genius Nursery School which runs to date.
- In 2006 Magda was nominated as Westrand Business Woman of the year.
