
School Rules
1. SCHOOL HOURS
- The school hours are from 7:00-17:30. The toddlers must be at school not later than 8:00.
- If you are going to be late, please let the school know, a penalty will be charged, for parents who are late on a regular basis.
- If your child will be fetched by somebody else the school must be contacted at info@little-genius.co.za or +27 (0) 11 475-7193, as your toddler will not be given to a stranger if no arrangements have been made.
2. MEAL TIMES
- The toddlers must bring their snack in a clearly marked lunch box for snack time 9:45/10:00.
NO sweets, biscuits, cupcakes, chocolates, chips or a packet “mini cheddars” or salt biscuits are allowed.
- What is healthy food? Here are a few examples: Cheese, fruit, biltong, nuts, raisins, sandwich, vienna, dried fruit.
- Please don’t pack juice as the bottles leak in the bags and make a big mess. Juice will be provided.
3. BIRTHDAY PARTIES
- Please arrange with the teacher if you want to have a party for your toddler at school.
- The party packs must not have a lot of sweets in – chips, chomp and a sweet. You are welcome to send a cake, cupcakes are just easier.
- Rather leave the toys and balloons for the party at home. Birthday parties take place between 10:00 and 10:30.
4. CLOTHES
- All clothes must be marked. The lost property will be put on the table in the entrance hall, after 2 weeks we give it to underprivileged children.
- During summer the toddlers must please come to school without shoes.
- We ask that the toddlers wear tekkies without laces but with Velcro, so that they can put in on and be taken off easily. Girls must please wear “ski pants” under a dress or a skirt. All children must wear panties and underpants to school. No belts as they battle during toilet time. No Spiderman or fairy printed clothes as these tend to get ruined and upset the toddler the clothing becomes damaged.
5. TOYS AND JEWELLERY
- NO toys may be brought to school (stickers, books, pens, colouring-books and balls are considered toys).
- We ask that girls do not wear bangles, necklaces, rings and high heel shoes. No watches please.
6. HAIR
Girl’s hair must be out of their eyes, long hair must be fastened.
7. CONTAGIOUS ILLNESSES
- If your child contracts s children’s disease or any contagious sickness including HEADLICE and/or any contagious alimentary canal disorder, (i.e. Diarrhoea, Rotavirus and Gastro Enteritis), eye infection (Pink eyes), Hand-Foot-Mouth disease and H1N1 (Swine Flu) the parent shall NOT BRING THE Child to the school and undertakes to comply with the applicable health regulations. A child’s recovery from the abovementioned illness or disorder must be confirmed by a certificate issued by medical practitioner before the child is once again placed in the care of the nursery school.
8. MEDICINE
- No vitamins will be given by staff. Medicine will be given to sick toddlers only. The parent must give consent for the medication to be given; the medicine book is on table in entrance hall.
9. IMMUNISATION AND VACCINATION
- Immunisation and vaccination must be done in accordance with the prescribed laws and the parent must present the necessary certificates at the request of the nursery school.
10. ALLERGIES
- School must be informed of all allergies.
11. GENERAL
- No brothers, sisters, family and friends will be allowed to visit during school hours, prior arrangements need to be made.
12. SCHOOL FEES
- All school fees are payable before the 7th of each month. (Late payments will be penalised with a late penalty fee of +one third of monthly school fee and extra mural fee). Internet transfers are preferred, if you need to make cash payment make sure that you get a receipt for the payment.
- If your child is leaving Little Genius nursery school, we need it in writing. Letter can be emailed to the school. One calendar month notice is required. No notice will be accepted for the month of November. All outstanding fees are subject to a collection commission, which includes attorney/client fees and tracing fees (if applicable). This fee shall be for the account of the client and are not refundable.
- DECEMBER IS REGARDED AS A FULL MONTH AS THE SCHOOL HAS STILL HAVE THE SAME FINANCIAL OBLIGATIONS AS EVERY OTHER MONTH BEFORE.
